The starter repositories meant I was writing code immediately rather than spending two weeks on setup.

The Applied programme gave me a realistic picture of how much data preparation is involved in actual ML work. That's something a lot of courses gloss over. Mentor feedback on the assignments was specific and genuinely useful — not just "good job, try again." The only downside is that 12 weeks goes fast if your day job is demanding.

I completed all three programmes over about fourteen months. The Advanced Track is serious work — you're expected to drive your portfolio project and the mentors don't let you coast. But the code review process taught me things I hadn't picked up in five years of backend development. The written progress record at the end was a nice addition.

The Applied programme's focus on honest evaluation was something I hadn't seen done well elsewhere. Most courses teach you to build models; this one taught me to question whether a model is actually doing what you think it's doing. That shift in thinking was worth the enrolment fee on its own.

Challenge
A backend developer working in fintech wanted to contribute to his team's early ML work but had no formal training. He'd tried self-study but couldn't identify what he was actually missing.
How it was addressed
He completed the Foundations programme first, then moved into Applied ML. Mentor feedback helped him identify specific gaps in how he was thinking about data preparation rather than just flagging incorrect code.
Outcome
After completing both programmes over about seven months, he was contributing to model evaluation work within his team. He said the biggest shift was understanding how to interpret results rather than just produce them.
